派遣前訓練38日目護身術

合気道で派遣されるボランティアの方が講師となって、護身術の自主講座が行われた。

参加するつもりは全然なかったが、他のボランティアのいたずらで参加者名簿に名前が書かれてしまったので参加することになった。

実際受けてみて思ったのは、1対1では有効だが、複数人数で襲ってきた場合には防ぎようがない。

講師のボランティアの方もおっしゃっていたが、護身術は使わないにこしたことはない。

なりゆきで英語クラスの人の宿題を手伝うことになった。テストの問題をつくるという宿題で、実際に使われている英文を見てみると相当ひどい。単語が分からないのは仕方がないが、疑問文の作り方がむちゃくちゃだった。

語学力を条件にしてしまうと応募者が減ってしまうので、訓練で補うというJICAの発想は十分理解できるのだが、訓練を受けても基本的なことが分かっていない人は結構多い。

この程度での英語力で派遣されるのかよって思ったが、非英語もおそらく同じ程度の語学力なので何とも言えない。

まぁ国際協力はスキルより熱意が大事だから(笑)。

The lecture of the art of self-defense was held.
The coach was a volunteer who will teach Aikido.

I would not participate it at all,
but other volunteer write my name on the participants list as a joke.

In my opinion, the art of self-defense is effective in defending against one person.
If several person attack me, the art of self-defense is useless.

It is better not to use the art of self-defense
The coach said same thing.

In the course of nature,
I helped a volunteer of English class to do her homework.
Her homework was to make examination.
The frases which she made was so bad.

It was not so bad that she didn't know English words.
She can't use interrogative well.

JICA don't make much of language skill in selection.
If JICA emphasized language skill,
the number of applicans for JOCV would decrease.
I agree JICA's policy but though some volunteers trained,
they didn't understand elemental knowledge well.

I thought that
It was not good that volunteers with little linguistic ability worked in foreign countries.
But volunteers who study non-English have little linguistic ability too,
so I can say nothing.

For international cooperation, passion is more important than technique and knowledge.
