派遣前訓練35日目PCトラブル

職種がコンピュータ技術として派遣される予定なので、たまにPCのトラブルについて相談される。

タイ語のクラスの女性がシニアボランティアの人のPCの音声が聞こえないというトラブルがあったので、調べてみたけどよく分からないので診てほしいという依頼があった。

普通にyoutubeの映像の音声は聞こえるものの、タイ語のあるサイトから音声を再生しようとする聞こえない。

見てみると、Firefoxでは聞こえなかったが、IEでは聞こえた。

多分サイト作成者がテストの段階でIEでしか再生を確認していないのだと思う。

Firefoxに対応するとなると単純に考えてテストに2倍の工数をかけることになる。今後のブラウザのシェアにもよると思うが、現状、IEは80%のシェアを占めているので正しい措置だと思う。

便利なブラウザが出てくるのは構わない。しかし同時にテストの効率化を即すような方法がでてこないとIE有利の立場は変わらないだろう。。

タイ語のサイトをはじめてみたものの、何を書いているのか全然わからない。タイに特段用事はないので、今後みることはないだろう。

so I was consulted about personal computer troubles by other volunteers.

A woman volunteer, who will work in Thailand,
checked senior volunteer's personal computer.
The computer's trouble was that
it didn't sound in viewing some web site.
But she didn't know why the trouble occured,
so she consulted me.

The computer sounded in viewing "youtube",
but it didn't sound in viewing a web site written in Thai.

I checked the computer carefully and found that
it could sound with IE, couldn't sound with IE.

Maybe the site maker checked whether it could sound on IE.

If the site maker check not only on IE but also on Firefox,
simply it cost two times price to test the site.
Because IE still occupied 80% of the web browser share,
Testing only on IE was appropriate strategy.

It was good that various browser were released.
But if the measure to test efficiently don't release,
IE continued to occupy the market.

It was first to view the site written in Thai,
but I couldn't read it.
Because I have nothing to do with Thailand
I will not never view sites written in Thai.
